SIMPLE is here!
The Simulated Internal Medicine Patient Learning Experience (SIMPLE) is a comprehensive Internet-based learning program for use by core clerkship students. SIMPLE's 36 interactive virtual patient cases are designed to comprehensively cover the CDIM-Society for General Internal Medicine (SGIM) Core Medicine Clerkship Curriculum.
SIMPLE is designed to supplement traditional clerkship teaching and patient care activities. It provides medical students and clerkship directors access to peer-reviewed learning materials that provide a solid foundation in internal medicine medical knowledge appropriate to the core clerkship student.
It is expected that each SIMPLE case will take a student approximately 45 minutes to complete, so that students may work through the full learning program over the course of an average clerkship.
PILOT TESTING
For institutions wishing to pilot test the SIMPLE cases, please go to www.simplecases.org/simple_access_req.htm and complete the online request form. Pilot testing is more involved than accessing and integrating the cases into a clerkship as it requires students and clerkship directors to actively participate in surveys about each case. Pilot testing also offers access beyond the cases themselves to allow for teaching faculty feedback as well. Although the SIMPLE cases will be available to any institution wishes to use the cases, pilot testing will be limited to a small number of institutitions. If you have any questions about pilot testing, please contact simplesupport@i-intime.org.
The cases available for pilot testing on July 1, 2008 are:
