SIMPLE CASES

The Instructors Area

To assist clerkship directors in integrating SIMPLE, we have developed an Instructors' Area of the SIMPLE Web site. This password-protected site includes the essential supporting materials to integrate SIMPLE into your clerkship succesfully.

SIMPLE cases are all delivered to students with a chief complaint. In working through a case, students builds their knowledge of the findings, enabling them to arrive at a final diagnosis. Of course, we realize it is important for faculty to have an overview of the case content in order to integrate the case effectively. It is for this reason that we provide detailed descriptions for each case in the Instructors' Area.

Case Descriptions for each case include:

  • Summary of Clinical Scenario
  • Key Clinical Findings
  • Differential and Final Diagnoses
  • Web links and other Case Highlights
  • Learning Objectives based on the CDIM-SGIM Curriculum
  • Key Teaching Points (see more below)

Other Instructors' Area features:

  • Student Log Data (see more below)
  • Protected Final Exam Questions

Key Teaching Points

After completing a case, students can print out and use the Key Teaching Points as functional summaries which incude all major curricular objectives and clinical reaonsing surrounding the key findings as well as the differential diagnosis.

Student Log Data

Clerkship Directors have access to data that includes the number of cases each student completed, how many individual cards within the cases they completed, and how long each case was worked on in total.
